After six adventurous years in Beijing, Kim and I decided last year to move to Nashville, USA. Wow. What a change. I was determined to try to give myself my best shot transitioning healthily to our new place, by adopting Ted Lasso’s motto, “Be curious, not judgmental.”
I’m happy to report that it’s working. Folks here are very friendly, including cashiers, neighbors, colleagues at work - even competitive musicians. It really has been a pleasure to get to make new friends, and both Kim and I feel very fortunate to be here. Like everyplace we’ve ever lived in, also this place is full of the same human wonders and contradictions that usually make daily living a beautiful challenge.
I even found my first “Y’all” popping spontaneously out of my mouth the other day. Friends, this is a fun and interesting place to keep exploring reality. We hope y’all will come down and visit us sometime soon.
